       How To Apply The Patches

These patches were created by zcdiff
and can be applied to the appropriate
Infocom .z3/.z4/.z5 file with zcpatch.
At time of writing, you can find the
zcpatch tool on ifarchive.org in a file
named "zpat-2_3.zip".

To create a deprotected version of,
for example, Cutthroats, you will need
an unmodified .z3 file of Cutthroats
release 23.

Type this entire command on one line:

$ zcpatch
  cutthroats_23_to_23_deprot_qkumba.pat
  cutthroats_r23_840809.z3
  cutthroats_r23_deprot.z3

...and it should output something like:

zcpatch version 2.3

Patching game "Cutthroats/deprot by
qkumba" 23/840809 [v3]
using 23/840809 [v3] as source.

Patch applied successfully.

          What The Patches Do

- A Mind Forever Voyaging

The game no longer requires a "Class
  One Security Mode Access Decoder"
  code to enter a simulation.

- Bureaucracy

When you are in the paranoid's house,
he will not ask you any questions.

- Cutthroats

No matter which item you are shown,
  you can visit either wreck.

- The Lurking Horror

When you login to the computer, you
  can type anything to proceed.

- Sorcerer

Just press the white button to open
  the trunk.

- Spellbreaker

  Belboz will accept anyone's name
(including "Belboz") and give you a
  proper key.

- Starcross

To set course for a UM, you may enter
any coordinates for R, THETA, & PHI.

- Stationfall

Instead of using form QX-17-T, you
  may enter any coordinates.

All these patches were conceived and
implemented by qkumba in 2018.

These patches are similar in purpose,
but otherwise unrelated, to another set
named "Infocom deprotection patches" by
Mark Knibbs, the most recent version of
which is dated 8-Mar-99.
