NOTE:
To enjoy the sounds and graphics, A DUDLEY DILEMMA works best when 
played full screen or in MS-DOS MODE.

If your system balks at the pictures and/or music, or if you simply
prefer to play the game without enhancement, just delete the following
files:

   *.pcx
   *.p19
   *.mid
   *.fnt

Deleting these files will return DUDLEY to a plain vanilla text adventure,
and will not affect the play in any way.

<If you have dropped items here as suggested, you will need to return from
 time to time to get things that you need, so read ahead in the solution to
 make sure you won't be caught empty-handed!>

<It's also a good idea to **SAVE** your position frequently throughout the
 game.  This would be a good time.>

In Harvard yard:
SOUTH, SOUTHEAST, TAKE SLIP, EXAMINE IT, EAST <Any direction gets you killed>
     Answer "yes" to the resurrection prompt.  Then you can restore.

*RESTORE*, FROM Harvard yard:

EXAMINE COMPUTER, UP, NORTH, NORTH, NORTH, NORTH

In Lehman Hall:
The security guard and the co-masters will appear randomly and often.  You
should EXAMINE them and TALK TO them when they appear.  You can get MIKE off
your back when you SHOW ID TO MIKE.

In the master's office:
If Paul catches you here, all you can do is LEAVE.  Anything else will get you
thrown out of the building.  You can re-enter immediately and try again.

PUT COIN IN SLOT, TAKE CONUNDRUM, EXAMINE IT, READ IT, SOUTHEAST, EAST, EAST

In the Library:
EXAMINE everything first.  You can BORROW a book now or later, but you must
have the ID CARD to do so. You can only BORROW one book at a time, but you
can EXCHANGE them if necessary.

When you are finished exploring the upper floors, return to the dining hall.
You need to give the conundrum to PAUL or CYNTHIA.  If the secret passage
behind the statue is open, go DOWN, TURN ON LIGHT, NORTH, 
CHARGE LIGHT (if necessary)

In the round room:
You have no way of knowing where you will end up from here, so choose the
appropriate moves from below.

*In the maze of steam tunnels:
SOUTHWEST, DOWN, SOUTHWEST, WEST, NORTH
(takes you back to Lehman Hall basement)

*In the bare chamber:
UP takes you back to dining hall, NORTH back to round room

*In basement with opening to west:
UP, EAST, EXAMINE STUDENTS, OFFER WINE TO STUDENTS, OFFER STEAK TO
STUDENTS, WEST, DOWN, WEST back to round room

*In basement with opening to east:
UP, NORTH, EXAMINE PARTY ANIMAL, EXAMINE TOKEN, TAKE TOKEN, SAY "CHARLEY",
SOUTH, EAST, EXAMINE FENCE, CLIMB FENCE, *SAVE*, DROP ALL,
NORTH, *RESTORE*, You can go EAST to Harvard Square or CLIMB FENCE, WEST,
DOWN, EAST to get back to the round room

In Harvard square:
LISTEN to brother blue several times.  His stories are always interesting.
DOWN, WAIT for subway, EXAMINE PANHANDLER, TALK TO PANHANDLER, GIVE TOKEN TO

In the mean streets:
If you encounter the youth, EXAMINE him, then KILL YOUTH WITH ZERO.
Continue any direction

At MIT:
NORTHWEST, TAKE ALL, PUSH BUTTON, EXAMINE DOOHICKY, TAKE IT, *SAVE*,
TURN KNOB TO <any number>, *RESTORE*, WEAR LOTION, TURN DIAL TO <any number>

To leave MIT by foot (you MUST be carrying the doohicky):
SOUTHEAST, EAST, keep walking to you get to Kendall square, DOWN, WAIT for
subway, UP takes you back to Harvard square.

At Garden Street (turn knob to 2):
You will need the umbrella and a glass of water.
NORTH, EXAMINE SCARECROW, TALK TO SCARECROW, OPEN UMBRELLA, GIVE IT TO THE
SCARECROW, GIVE WATER TO SCARECROW, EXAMINE CORN
You can only exit with the doohicky.

At Banks Street (turn knob to 3):
EAST, EXAMINE WORKMAN, exit with doohicky.

At Botanic Gardens (turn knob to 4):
NORTH, EXAMINE RAM

You should have read the RED book in Dudley Library, and studied the MAP.
You must WHISTLE every 5 moves and STOMP every 7 moves.  You must also
retrieve items from the 2 rooms marked HERE.

Seems obvious by now, doesn't it.  Go to the Law School with the doohicky,
TAKE the slip, exit with the doohicky.

In the CO-OP:
The students didn't want Wine or steak, but if you have the ear of corn
GIVE CORN TO STUDENTS, TAKE TASSEL, EXAMINE IT, TAKE PLUG, EXAMINE IT

At the river:
The plug will allow you to get through the Round Room without wandering,
but more important, you can now go swimming.  SO, from the CO-OP:
WEAR PLUG, WEST, DOWN, WEST, WEST, UP, EAST, CLIMB FENCE, DROP ALL, NORTH,
DOWN, TAKE <item> may take several tries, UP, SOUTH

With the Appointment Slip:
Now you can get in to see the Senior Tutor.  At the lounge, go:
SOUTHEAST, EXAMINE JOHN, TALK TO JOHN, WEST, PUSH BUTTON, PUSH 2, SOUTH,
TAKE STEAK if you don't have it already, SOUTH, WEST, ANY direction 'til
you find the administrator, EXAMINE ADMINISTRATOR, TAKE STUDY CARD, GIVE
STEAK TO ADMINISTRATOR

In Harvard Yard (with the Study Card):
EXAMINE DEAN, TALK TO DEAN, GIVE STUDY CARD TO DEAN, INVENTORY,
the STUDY CARD is now a STURDY CAD!

Take the STURDY CAD and SHOW it to JOHN at the SENIOR TUTORS OFFICE.

Then you must find the queer old dean (I'd look around Harvard Yard)
and SHOW CAD TO DEAN.  He'll turn it back into a STUDY CARD.

When you have the STUDY CARD again, you might want to find the dean and GIVE
BASS TRACKS TO THE DEAN.  He's sure to turn them into BRASS TACKS for you!

When you have the BRASS TACKS, go back to banks street and GIVE TACKS TO
WORKMAN.  You will get a dirty plank of mortar in exchange.

The Study Card:
It's fun to take the card to MEM HALL before you get it signed, but 
ultimately it needs John's signature.  Take it to his office and GIVE CARD
TO JOHN. Then GIVE FEATHER TO JOHN, DIP FEATHER IN INK, GIVE FEATHER TO JOHN.
NOW you can take the signed card to MEM HALL:
GET IN LINE, WAIT until you reach the front of the line.

The Computer in the Science Center:
If you have the MOUSE, take it to the Computer room and PLUG MOUSE.
You will then be prompted. The computer will tell you which of the books
in Dudley Library is actually a missing book from WIDENER.  You must then
turn the correct book in.

Getting the correct book:
If you have already borrowed one of the books from Dudley BEFORE inserting
the DISK/MOUSE, you will have to EXCHANGE books at the library.  Go to the
Dudley library and TAKE the other book.  When the librarian appears, EXCHANGE
BOOKS.

If you haven't yet borrowed either book, you now know which one to get.  Go
to the library and BORROW it.

When you have the correct book, take it to WIDENER.  From the Dudley library:
EAST, PUSH BUTTON, PUSH 2, SOUTH, WEST, PUT BOOK IN SLOT

so walk in any direction or do anything for 4 moves, and you will 'awaken' to
your telephone. NOW:
